The account in II Kings continues with the story of Elisha, who himself worked mighty deeds in the fashion of his master. Mark has included a number of allusions to the Elisha material as well, including: 1) the healing of a leper 2) the prophecy of a terrible siege 3) the treachery of a trusted servant Together, these narrative units from the Elijah/Elisha narrative are used as interpretive templates overlaid on the stories of John and Jesus.
